We are pleased to announce that our company has commenced efforts to obtain certification for the newly established Blue Cloths product standard “JIS A 6932 (Polyethylene tarpaulin for emergency roof covering and building envelope)” as of February 20, 2026.
In recent years, natural disasters such as typhoons, torrential rains, and earthquakes have become increasingly frequent. Blue Cloths play an increasingly vital role as emergency measures for damaged residential roofs. However, until now, there were no unified quality/performance standards or testing methods for Blue Cloths regarding strength, weather resistance, waterproofing performance, etc. This created challenges for local governments and contractors in selecting products suitable for their intended use.
Against this backdrop, the newly established “JIS A 6932” comprehensively specifies requirements for Blue Cloths intended for emergency roof repairs during disasters. These include quality, structure, shape/dimensions, thickness, mass per unit area, appearance, materials, test methods, inspection, nomenclature, and labeling. Furthermore, during its development, performance tests were conducted on the emergency sheets, evaluating tensile strength, weather resistance, waterproofing performance, dimensions, and long-term storage stability, with assessments based on actual usage conditions at disaster sites. The establishment of this JIS is expected to foster a reliable Blue Cloths market and contribute to strengthening disaster countermeasures.
