Supporting Winter Turf Growth with Three Key Functions: Heat retention × Moisture permeability × Daylighting.Introducing Our Newly Developed Natural Turf Protection Sheet

We are proud to announce the development of our latest product, the Natural Turf Protection Sheet, designed to support healthy turf growth during the winter season. This innovative sheet has been adopted for use at a professional soccer team’s training facility. Combining three essential functions—heat retention, moisture permeability, and daylighting—it provides robust support for turf growth in cold weather conditions.

Background of Development

The project began when we received a request from Fagiano Okayama, our local soccer team, seeking a solution to protect natural turf from frost and low temperatures while promoting growth during winter. In collaboration with Toyo Green Co., Ltd., which manages the team’s turf maintenance, we leveraged our long-standing expertise in filament production, weaving, lamination, and sheet processing to successfully bring this product to market.

Key Features

Heat retention: Protects turf from frost and cold air, supporting winter growth

Moisture permeability: Maintains optimal humidity while allowing vapor diffusion

Daylighting: Ensures sunlight penetration to promote photosynthesis Additionally, the sheet’s mesh-pattern lamination allows water permeability, enabling irrigation and meeting all conditions necessary for healthy turf growth. This design also reduces weight, improving ease of installation.

Development Highlights

Traditional blue tarps feature full-surface lamination for waterproofing, but turf protection requires a unique balance: allowing sunlight and water to pass through while preventing frost damage. To achieve this, we developed a proprietary technique that mixes foaming agents during lamination, creating a resin coating with a mottled pattern. This innovation delivers heat retention, moisture permeability, and daylighting, and water permeability—all in one sheet, while ensuring strength to withstand tension during installation and wind exposure.

Future Outlook

We anticipate widespread adoption of this product across J.League stadiums and training facilities, as well as sports complexes and parks with natural turf. Moving forward, we will continue to develop solutions that reflect on-site needs and contribute to creating comfortable, sustainable environments.
