Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Initiatives
●Disaster Agreement
To ensure the prompt and smooth delivery of supplies required after disaster strikes, we have concluded agreements with 23 municipalities and other bodies for the supply of Hagihara Blue Cloths, sandbags, and other supplies in the event of a disaster (as of October 31, 2024).

●Cooperate with the General Contractors Association in Each Region.
An agreement has been concluded with the local General Contractors Association of Japan to provide a central point of contact in the event of a disaster and to respond to emergency activities. We will leverage the strengths of the partner companies to build a new cooperative system that is functional and agile as part of readiness for disasters.

Diversity
●Female Outside Directors
The first female director from outside the founding family was appointed in 2019. Doing so helps to broaden the diversity of viewpoints, leading to greater quality discussions.

●Increase the Ratio of Female Recruits Joining (New Graduates)
We have increased the ratio of females joining the company from approx. 10% to approx. 30% over the past five years. With this, we are creating an environment where women are able to play an active role.

●Employment of Persons with Disabilities
We aim to create a work environment where employees with disabilities are able to work to their fullest potential (ratio of employees with disabilities: 2.85%).

●Employment of Foreign Nationals
We also hire foreign nationals as regular employees and foster the development of human resources in response to globalization.

Development of Products Supporting Work Style Reform
●Development of Soundproof Fabric
Through the ongoing development of soundproof fabric installed on construction sites, it has succeeded in reducing weight by 70% compared to conventional products. This has lowered the burden placed on workers.

●Improvement of Construction Work Environment and Safety Measures
Mesh fabric with excellent transparency (visibility), light transmission, and lightweight. This ensures that the area within scaffolding is bright, improving the construction work environment and facilitating safety measures for preventing accidents.

●Measures to Shorten Construction Time and Labor Shortages
The labor shortage in the construction industry is a major problem, and using BarChip products reduces the amount of rebar used, shortens construction time, and helps the labor shortage.

Supporting Communities and Children
●BRIDGE OKAYAMA
As part of the reconstruction aid in the wake of the disasters caused by torrential rain in western Japan, we collected blue sheets used in the affected areas, repurposed them into tote bags, and took part in activities involved in contributing proceeds to reconstruction efforts. [Total amount of donations] Kurashiki City: 1,067,523 yen, Soja City: 1,067,524 yen

●BRIDGE SETOUCHI
After the end of BRIDGE OKAYAMA, we kicked off activities involving recycling blue sheets that are wasted during our manufacturing process, and turning them into tote bags, with 30% of sales donated to disaster prevention and mitigation activities.

●The Benefits of Receiving “Women’s Health Checkup Kurashiki Only!”
The “KMC Original BRIDGE SETOUCHI Blue Sheet Bag” produced together with the Kurashiki Medical Center was adopted as a bonus for women receiving checkups. An amount equal to the number of examinees (number of bags distributed) x 200 yen will be donated to disaster prevention and mitigation activities.

●Accepting and Welcoming Factory Tours.
We are actively engaged in opening up for factory tours. This allows us to exchange opinions with people from different industries and positions on topics such as corporate philosophy, safety, and human resource development, to create new value together.

●Cooperation with Schools
We have concluded an agreement with National Institute of Technology, Tsuyama College covering comprehensive collaboration and cooperation. Together we are engaged in collaboration in areas like research and education, with the aim of revitalizing the region and developing industry through the effective use of the human and material resources that are in the possession of both sides.

●Participation in Disaster Prevention Events
We participate in large-scale disaster drills and events to learn about disaster prevention in an entertaining manner. We do this to give visitors an opportunity to understand how our products can come in handy for disaster prevention and disaster situations through exhibits and hands-on experience.

●NAGOMI Nursery School
To ensure a working environment that offers peace of mind for our employees, we opened a small nursery in June 2018 with the capacity for 12 children aged from 0 (3 months) to 5 years old.

●Employee Cafeteria
Half of the company cafeteria prices is covered by the company, so employees can enjoy freshly prepared meals at a low cost. The cafeteria also serves as a place for communication across departments, which inspires motivation.

Certification and Recognition from Outside the Company
●Winner of the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry’s “Japan’s Most Valuable Company” Award
The award recognizes the company’s management stance of not implementing restructuring, its high ratio of full-time employees, portraits of all employees shown in the president’s office, and its effort of presenting employees with baumkuchen cakes accompanied with a message card from the president on their birthdays.
